The Caves of Nerone are an ancient villa on the beach in Anzio

October 8, 2021
Roma

Still visible from the coast, witness the remains of Nerone’s Villa on the beach and the underground caves, strategically structured to escape in case of necessity. Isola Verde Camping Nettuno Rome is located only a few miles from this stunning archaeological area. It includes the port, built according to the will of emperor Nerone, covering an area of about 84 acres.

Today two jetties are still visible of the ancient construction, together with the port warehouse known as Nerone’s Caves, located at the base of the jetty on the west side. The Emperor’s Villa extends over 800 meters on the coast.
